Lotus Designer Len Terry Passes at Age 90
« on: August 28, 2014, 12:46:06 PM »
Legendary designer Len Terry has passed at the age of 90. He designed a number of famous racing cars, including Dan Gurney's Eagle Mk I F1 car and the Gulf Mirage Le Mans racer. He is best known for his on again, off again relationship with Colin Chapman and Lotus.

Terry was involved in the Lotus 15 & 17. He was then fired by Chapman, largely because the Terry designed Terrier Mk II regularly bested Chapman's Lotus 7 in competition. He later returned to Lotus, and designed the Lotus 38 in just 4 weeks. That was the car that Jim Clark drove to victory in the Indy 500.

Mr Terry is second from the right in the photo below.

R.I.P., Mr Terry. Your cars will always live on in our hearts.

Another feather from the crown of golden era of racing departs for heaven. I have always loved these people, who were there just to ensure the car gets faster. They never get the fame, they had always been undermined by the fans, but yet because they love it so much to make the car faster, they were always there. Jim may have been one hell of a class act, but without these people he could not have been one.

RIP Mr. Len Perry, start building engines in the heavens  :D
Keep running the fast cars, you will be never out of girls
