I hope not.  Alonso has more to give to F1, but if he takes a year off, he might find coming back a bit more difficult (though Kimi did it).

I agree Scott.  It's risky to take a sabbatical.  He's better off staying in my opinion, assuming that McLaren and Honda can come up with a good enough package.  I'm not sure he can gamble on Mercedes having a free seat in 2016 either.

I think he could do well racing Le mans class and it may make him a more rounded driver as well. Not that Alonso requires an education. Racing in other classes will help him. F1 can't advance so far that he can't make a seamless reentry.
