Could F1 canopies work?
« on: October 29, 2014, 11:44:38 PM »
Maybe or not it could have prevented Bianchi's  injury but
I think it would hurt F1.Bianchi's accident was a perfect storm
of incidents that probably could never happen again....auto
racing is a dangerous sport.

A simple solution is that in a similar scenario and the the original crash  driver is unhurt do not allow lifting machinery out until the S/C is deployed, it's a no brainer.
An aircraft landing is just a controlled crash.

Any scenario you plan for with the right cogs falling in
place can produce a tragedy....guess it could be one of
the rules in Murphy's Law.

Exactly.   :good: :good:

But no, the FIA wants to figure out yet ANOTHER way to force the teams to spend more money, instead of simply looking in the mirror.

Canopies on F1 cars is a great idea....you know what's coming next?

OK so is £10 million to have your name on the para-shoot, £5 million on the seat.......

Canopies risk the driver being trapped inside, and if there's a fuel fire that doesn't bear thinking about.  They may solve one problem, but cause another.  I don't think that they are the solution.

Canopies would make them look like fighter jets without
the wings.....not my idea of a proper F1 car

Don't give the gang at 8 Place de la Concorde any more dumb ideas. Remember, IndyCar already has fenders/wings/mudguards/whatever.
