Mercedes set for F1 engine war compromise?
« on: December 16, 2014, 02:27:55 PM »
Merc hybrid system for everyone, a la McLaren ECU, their proposal.

Turning a disgruntled F1 pack baying for blood into a business opportunity must look like a great way out of the impasse for Merc. Wonder if Ferrari and Renault will see it as the solution?

That's only a 'solution' if one assumes that Mercedes' advantage is in the hybrid unit, and not the V6.

My understanding was that Mercedes' turbo itself brings in more air than the competition.

The report said the proposal of a standard, Mercedes-supplied hybrid system would be not unlike the standard McLaren-supplied electronic control units that are already deployed by every F1 team up and down the grid.
