This reminds me of the Walkinshaw/Phoenix affair after Prost went bust at the end of 2001.  I don't really like this sort of thing, but there's nothing in the rules to prevent it.

Haas doesn't need to buy the team he already has his own place on the grid, buying Marussia as a full team would mean one of the grid entries would become void so why pay the extra money.

As far as I know Haas is not an energy drink company, that's the only way you are allowed 2 teams.  :D
