Rumour: Sauber set for Blue & Yellow F1 car livery
« on: January 27, 2015, 12:52:38 AM »
New sponsor Banco do Brasil colours, like last GP2 car?

Carlin 2014 GP2 car, below, is this how Sauber will look???

That is the claim of the Portuguese-language website Grande Prêmio, claiming the Swiss team's colour choice is in deference to new driver Felipe Nasr's major backer.

Grande Prêmio also reported a tale of mere survival for Sauber over the winter, having momentarily stopped developing the new C34 car due to running out of funds.  :swoon:

It's distinctive.

I would put it behind Williams, FIF1 and the rumored McLaren

I will certainly have no trouble spotting it, but would prefer to wait until I see it moving before judging (that sort of colour scheme is tricky to pull off with a moving vehicle, but kudos to Sauber for trying).

What a shame.  Sauber has to get a Brazilian bank to put their decals on the car instead of UBS or Credit Suisse.  Seriously... :( :(

Livery gets a  :good: from me.  Tired of the thoughtless mix of sponsor colours of years past.

UBS sponsors F1 as a whole and Credit Suisse were priced out of F1 sponsorship some time ago.

I know the corporate excuses, but if UBS poured a fraction of what they put in trackside ads into their own nations team, Sauber would have a decent budget.  And for Credit Suisse, they could put their sponsorship on the car at whatever level they can afford (which is quite a bit if you look at their profits).

If the British teams can get sponsorship in Francs, a little will go a long way!

Just because a company can afford to put money into F1 does not mean it can justify it to the board. At the moment Credit Suisse sees no point in sponsoring a F1 entity of any kind. After all, it is used to the visibility of being a secondary sponsor and there are no teams where that is cheap... ...and fewer people watch F1 every year to make the value equation balance up again.

The livery hasn't really grown on me to be honest.  It's the best picture of it that I've seen, in terms of the lighting, but I still don't like it that much.  It doesn't seem to flow all that well.
