Great stuff, Dare. Thanks!

Sometimes it's hard to believe how different things were back them. Cars still in national racing colors. (How many of you knew that yellow is the national racing color of Belgium?) Great drivers like Clark, Gurney Phil Hill, Graham Hill, Moss, von Tripps & so many others. Spa still in its classic 8 mile configuration. Almost no guardrails & photographers standing right at the edge of the track. It was a golden era that made many of us oldsters F1 fans for life.

The era had a dark side, too. Four races later that season, von Tripps & Clark would shunt at Monza. von Tripps's Ferrari flew into a fence, killing him and 14 spectators. Many others drivers in this race would later die on track.

Still, it's wonderful to look back on a race like this one to see an time when titans raced on huge tracks in tiny cars.

Clark got me hooked on F1.I still love to watch the old cars
take the country roads at Spa at speed.I took a different breed
that what races now to get in the gas takes on wheels.

I never knew yellow as Bel. as a matter of fact.Learn
something new every day.
