JB 2018?

  • I personally don't think JB will come back to a full season although how he does in Monaco may sway him and/or teams to tempt him back

  • If Alonso does well at Indy, he might try again, or other drivers might give it a shot.  JB could just run as a Monaco fill in.

  • I'd love to see Jenson get another shot in a competitive car. Of course, that has nothing to do with McLaren-Honda.

As for Alonso, I think he's had it with McLaren-Honda. He also want a shot at LeMans.

  • That's the decider he'll not come back unless it has the potential for wins and that reduces the options.

  • I think you will only see JB presenting F1 now, with the obvious exception of Monaco. Would make a good team with Coulthard.

  • He's said Monaco is a one time occurrence. If he was on a winning tean he
    never would have retired

I do hope so....excellent pairing although given the limited time now that C4 will be covering this then I guess Sky TV will get him.

  • JB is talking about Le Mans & NASCAR:

"For me, I would like to do Le Mans one day. I think it would be a great experience, a great team atmosphere. Obviously it has to be the right opportunity like Nico [Hulkenberg] had. I would like to race in NASCAR – I think that would be fun. I went along to one of the races this year; Jimmie Johnson invited me and I had a great time. I loved seeing the show as it is, and it's very different to other motorsport. Equally, it's a challenge, it's a massive challenge. Who knows?"

  • Open wheel drivers haven't accomplished much in NASCAR.
Ask Juan or Patrick.Hornish tried it too and I haven't heard where he's
    at mow.

I know: Tony Stewart went to NASCAR and only won three championships.  Open wheel guys can't catch a break

  • Yeah I see your point.Juan Pablo,Dana,Robby Gordon,Sam Hornish,and
Sarah Fisher tore up NASCAR. Stewart and Gordon are exceptions and
I'm sticking to most open wheel drivers don't fare well in stock cars.

Most open wheel racers go to NASCAR when they can't find a competitve ride in the open wheel series, which means they're already on the downslope of their career.  NASCAR looks simple, but you really do need to be at the top of your game to do well there.  I don't think openwheelers are at a disadvantage per se, they're just usually not at the right part of their career.

It would be the same if fender drivers moved to openwheels.  The best would do great in their prime, but as they lose their edge on the ovals, they'll also lose them on open wheels

  • I wouldn't say Stewart was on the downside of his career or
Hornish as he had just won the 500. Patrick is another story
is to me she's sponsor money. How many stock car drivers
have successfully made the switch to open wheel? I can't think of any
