Monisha Kaltenborn has left Sauber?????
« on: June 21, 2017, 12:33:30 PM »
It is reported that there has been a 'conscious decoupling'  between Monica and Sauber? (mind you the same source was saying that Williams were getting Honda power which has since been denied!).
However, if true, this is something I had predicted. Sauber are seriously under-performing and the new owners were surely going to do something about that.
If Sauber take Honda engines I assume they will get some support from Honda but they need a really good CEO and race manager. Despite Peter Sauber's belief in her, I have never felt Monica has ever quite had a grip on the team or the media.

BBC is reporting it as a done deal:

She never really had a good hand to play. I just hope that whomever replaces her can do better with what they have to work with.

According to F1i.com, Longbow financial, who purchased the team, wanted Marcus Ericsson as the #1 driver. Monisha favored Wehrlein. Probably just the tip of the spear of their problems though. I thought she did a decent job considering she had virtually no budget to work with.

I cannot see any advantage to this.  It would have been much better if they could have reached a compromise.  The new owners are Swedish are they not?  If so, it's not a surprise that Ericsson would be favoured, but I think that Wehrlein is faster driver.  Either way, I agree that this is probably the tip of iceberg and a lot of other things led to this.  I think that it's a shame that she has gone.
