A deal he can't refuse

Ferrari wants him pretty bad or good depending
how you look at it. I hope Vettel  has retaining Kimi
as part of the deal

I heard on Sky F1 that one of the rumoured stumbling blocks Seb had given to Ferrari was that he wants Kimi to stay for at least the first year of any new deal he signs.

It's a good negotiating tactic when you look at other drivers' contract expiry dates and the knock on effect it would have on reducing the caliber of available team mates for years two and three of any new deal.

$40+ million per year is a lot folding to find maybe we should have a pole to see if he's worth it or if F1 wages have got out of hand?
Once you have retired every day is a Saturday!

Keeping Kimi for a year or two is a smart idea. He's not the Raikkonen of 2014-2015, who made me wonder why he was there. He'll probably never be champion in his own right again, but he is generally an able backup to Sebastian.

By leaving him in place, Ferrari can worry about actual problems, and when it's time to replace Kimi, one of the Ferrari Development Academy students - Charles Leclerc or Antonio Giovanazzi - will have had a season or two of F1 under their belts and be ready to take over that role.
