I can sympathize, too. My rides are far more leisurely than Scott's but I really enjoy them.

I do not play golf. Largely because I'm the only person I know who can put a ball, make it miss the hole 6 inches away that I was aiming for and land 3 holes further along in minigolf.

If I played golf, the one record I'd have a hope of challenging is the one for the longest drive ever. Some hapless player teed off at the first hole and their ball soared over the boundary, landed in a vegetable van, and reached the ground only when the van was emptied in London 42 miles later. (It is believed the golfer opted to play a second ball rather than wait for the return of the first).

I do, however, do several other sports. I swam in disability competitions for 20 years, and nowadays I mix social swimming with slow running (I recently celebrated my first sub-12-minute mile... ...in a race where I finished 300 metres behind a man 40 years my senior) and the occasional dragon boat race and karting practise.

I love to ask...it is way better to ask than just making an assumption. If i may ask...i familiar with slow swimming but what exactly is social swimming?

Swimming to build friendships and meet new people, rather than as a competitive endeavour or to hit some specific personal goal.
