Driver Motivation - Lesson 1 by Paddy Lowe

How to build (not) your drivers confidence up in readiness for the new season. Leaving aside the car was pretty poor!

If you can't take a little public criticism, you don't belong in an F1 car.

Besides, Lowe's job is motivating a whole team, not one driver.  Telling the lads they did a good job while the Rookie screwed up probably does more for the team than saying the Rookie did his best and everyone else created a crap car.

Given that one of the drivers of the 2017 car has retired, and the other one probably assumed he could have got more out of the car with another 12 months under his belt (which he now has), this is about the safest time there would ever be to make this sort of high-risk statement.
