Title: Neel Jani and revised Porsche 919 set absolute Spa record

They boosted the car's power over full WEC legal spec. Top speed was 359 KPH!!

The 919 wasn't a 'legal' race car though.

Anyone can make a car faster than an F1 car, it's just a problem finding a series to race in.  Quite frankly, if Porsche was building a car that could do more than LMP1 would allow, then they don't quite understand how to build a race car at all!

It just shows how great the WEC could be if it shed itself of the FIA and was back under ACO control.

Let's wait for this year's Belgian GP before we get too excited. A normal spec F1 car might beat that time.

A specially prepared souped up car only proves you can go faster when free of restrictions.

Can't wait for RBR, Merc or Williams to put an F1 chassis with an unrestricted engine bolted on round Spa, then we'll see how the Porsche stacks up.  ;)

Doesn't Honda still own the record for fastest legal F1 car?  They took a BAR out to the salt flats, took off the aero but kept everything to racing spec and went over 400 kph.
