Mercedes at the top, Cosworth at the bottom.  It's a tight spread among the established teams though.  Not much of a surprise there.

Except for Hulkenberg.  Looks like he's got a handle on F1! (unless Frank loaded him light, like he used to do for Button in practise).

How long before Barichello complains that the rookie is getting preferential treatment?

No, the first complaint will be the pedal layout as it is always his first problem in a new team - in 17 years of F1, Rubens is the only guy who hasn't been able to get a grip on left foot braking.   Fool Fool

Anyone else feel that Ferrari are sandbagging, they are down among the Renaults now that can't be right if the car is so much better than last year?

I think the new rules about race fuel may be causing some teams to concentrate on getting info on ride height and tyre wear on full tanks ahead of light fuel runs. Just like testing we are still none the wiser, makes pole picking a bit of a stab in the dark.  confused & just  Don't know

I read somewhere that Ferrari were concentrating on heavy fuel runs, so that may explain it.

STR and Sauber are also down the time sheets.  Perhaps the Ferrari V8 isn't up to modern F1 racing.  I partially agree with Horner that the engines need to be updated.

In my opinion this season is all about tyre wear. The driver that manages not to look so dramatic will hold the upper hand.

I think these times are still too difficult to judge, still people are playing games and going with different plans throughout practice.  I honestly don't think we'll get a true reflection on who is where until qualifying tomorrow.

You are right in what you quote, that is why we are in for a formidable season. The new rules are there for all the Teams. But come Qualifying and race day the games will be well and truly over. Good

Hmmmmm.

Why should I be surprised at how well michael SCHUMACHER is doing?

If managing tyre wear is going to be all important this year, then he will be a "shoe-in" methinks for a win at Bahrain and even another WDC...........

......and I consider kimi RAIKONEN is lucky he is not driving this year with the new regulations, [due, in part, to his apparent lack of car management skill?!!???]
