Yamamoto remains test driver at Aguri

Sakon Yamamoto will remain as second test driver for the Super Aguri team, the outfit announced today.

The Japanese driver, who raced for Super Aguri in the final latter part of the 2006 season, joins newly appointed third driver Giedo van der Garde, along with Takuma Sato and Anthony Davidson, who have both been confirmed as race drivers for the Aguri team next year.

"It is great news that I am able to stay in Formula One with Super Aguri F1 Team in 2007 and would like to thank everyone who has supported me, especially Aguri-san (Aguri Suzuki)," Yamamoto stated.

"I will try to do my best in my new role and give the team good support from my time in the car next year."

Team owner Aguri Suzuki himself stated that Yamamoto will also race in a different formula in 2007.

"I am very happy that Sakon will remain a member of the Super Aguri F1 Team family next season," Suzuki said.

"We will help him to secure a race seat in another category for 2007, and I am confident that his experience gained from Formula One racing this year will help him achieve this goal."

The Stig
