Kimi crashes out of Arctic Rally
« on: January 29, 2010, 07:22:06 PM »

Not a terrific start for Kimi, good to see he's not injured especially as he seems to have felled the tree that got in his way.  :swoon:

Kimi Raikkonen has crashed out of the Arctic Rally on the second stage. The Red Bull driver lost control of his Citroen C4 WRC on a right-hand corner in SS2 and hit a tree. It is hoped he and co-driver Kaj Lindstrom can return under superally regulations tomorrow.

Raikkonen had made a strong start to his first ever competitive outing in the C4 WRC, posting a time just five seconds shy of Citroen World Rally Team driver Dani Sordo on the event's opening 11.27km test.

A member of the Arctic Rally organising team said: "From what we hear, Kimi has hit the tree and knocked it down. We will have to wait and see what is the damage to the car.

"Maybe it's possible for them to come back tomorrow - we hope so."

Rally and F1 are so different sports that it was not miracle that Kimi crashed. it takes time to learn how car does in different tracks, also in winter. Kimi has said in interviews that he loves rally and it is possible to see from his face: he smiles more often, feels more relaxed, not that Iceman like in F1. time shows will he return to F1 or not. :DntKnw:

Ahh but which driver needs the most skill, Rallying or F1?

How can you ask such a question Wizzo?  :o

I think rallying is harder.Must be hard to concentrate with
someone jabbering in the seat next to you.

Wizzo to put it in perspective, can you concentrate on your driving
when you take Mrs Wiz shopping ;)

Plus the limit in rallying is a bit more important to pay attention to.  Rallying accidents tend to hurt more than F1 (these days).

I thought Valentino Rossi who has tested in Ferrari many times. Vale has been fast in Ferrari test, he would be 18th if it were race weekend. it is very well done from motorbike rider because riding bike and driving f1 car is not same although in both sports the max speed can be over 300-320 km/h. Perhaps Yamaha has fear that they lose Vale to F1, also lots of spectators because he is 8 time world champion. :DntKnw:

And why did Kimi go to WDC?

Did you ever try to fit a beer cooler in an F1 car?

Kimi has been known to have a few (too many) drinks.

You'll have to get used to the sarcasm on this site Gato...we like to tease.  All in good fun though.

I was just having a bit of a joke, Gato. Kimi does have a bit of a reputation for partying. I was thinking of the video of him falling off a yacht during the Monaco race a couple of years ago.

Like Scott said, we do have our jokes around here. I didn't mean anything serious by it.
