Two New Women Drivers in the IRL
« on: March 02, 2010, 12:59:01 PM »
The Drivers section of the new IRL website lists two new women drivers. Ana Beatriz is listed for Dreyer and Reinbold. She's from Sao Paulo, Brazil and ran in Indy Lights last season.

Simona de Silvestro is driving for HVM. The bio lists her hometown as Thurn, Swizerland and that she's living in Scotsdale, AZ, USA. However, for some reason, they have the Cross of St. George flag in the corner of her picture.

Sarah Fisher is still there for Sarah Fisher Racing. :yahoo: Danica Patrick is listed for Andretti Autosport. Milka Duno is missing from the listing.

I noticed Eddie Cheever's nephew Richard Antinucci
was missing from the drivers lineup too.I thought
he had a drive lined up?

Looks like their research team missed the Swiss flag
doesn't it.At least they got the 2 colors right and a cross.

It seems that American racing series really interest women! Is the salary there better for women than in europan race classes? The athmophere there is not so cold than in F1 i suppose...

It's probably a cultural thing.  About 10 years ago there was an American movie called 'The Fast and the Furious'  (starring Vin Diesel  :-* ) that showed women racing cars, and beating 'the guys'.  I think that might have put the idea into a few girls' heads, and also knocked down the machismo that pervades racing a peg.
