The sorry state of Donnington after F1 bid failed
« on: March 10, 2010, 03:04:47 PM »

This video shows the extent of the problems facing anyone who wants to bring Donnington track back into use. It is depressing to see the famous old track in this bad state after watching Bikes, World series by Renault and Touring cars at the track over the years. No sign of the famous Dunlop bridge either.

What a mess, criminal.

I can't believe they can leave it like that.  It's pathetic that Bernie holds on to the race fees and doesn't even donate it back to the track for repairs for his hair-brained idea that everyone knew would fail.  All because he wants to punish Silverstone.  Like Ian said, it's criminal.

That video is actually sickening. Donington was a fantastic track for motorbikes and for touring cars, and it has been left in a mess which is paramount to vandalism. Not often anything about F1 makes me really ashamed but that video does.

Get it fixed Bernie!!  >:(

I agree, it is sickening how such a famous circuit was allowed to get into that state, everyone involved in that should feel ashamed.

The good news is that most of the damage is such that only minor work is needed to get club racing - and therefore some money - back to the track.

We can't expect Bernie to actually have a conscience powerful enough to refund the monies paid to him, not that it would help as it would be getting returned to Simon Gillet's company in administration (which was the promoter), not the circuit itself. Apart from any skipped rental payments, Donington still wouldn't see any money back. Luckily the new people appear to be capable of rescuing a circuit that very much deserves rescuing.
