Johnnie Parsons, the first Indy 500 to get championship points in 1950.

I guess a few others also got points that day, but as he was the winner and first across the line he must have got his points first.

Right John S!  :yahoo:

The question did specify win a race.  ;)

I've gotta say it-

Ford Cosworth DFV

I've gotta say it-

Ford Cosworth DFV

Looking into this I have to go with Cos. Their first F1 win was with the M7A powered by a Ford Cosworth DFV engine at the 1968 Belgian GP with Bruce McLaren at the wheel.

I could be mistaken??

My Mistake!! They earned their first points with the BRM v12, but the first win was with the Cosworth.  :-[

F1 went back to 3 liter engines in 1966. What was unique about BRM's 3 liter engine, designed by Tony Rudd and Geoff Johnson?

The engine had 16 cylinders, made by joining two 1.5ltr 8 cylinder engines with the crankshafts geared together.

That's right, David. They called it the H-16. It was like two flat eights stacked one on top of the other.
