Ruptured pipes 'could jeopardise' Canadian Grand Prix
« on: May 20, 2010, 12:31:17 AM »
just when I thought they was in they push themout

19 May 2010

The Canadian Grand Prix is believed to be facing a problem in the form of old water pipes, located beneath the partly-street Circuit de Gilles Villeneuve. The Montreal race is set to make a return to the calendar in the middle of next month after a year off in 2009.

With financial issues having forced race organisers to place their race on hold last year, Formula 1 looks forward to returning to the popular location in June although proposed construction work at the venue could disrupt proceedings.

'Much of the site's water system dates from 1966 and has recorded 32 breaks between 2003 and 2008 and a major break could compromise the sprinkler system at the provincially run casino on Īle Notre Dame,' reads a report from the Montreal Gazette, with city auditor Jacques Bergeron having carried out work.

'Meanwhile, a rupture of the aging pipes located below the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve could jeopardise the Formula 1 event.'

Mark Twain once opined, "it's easier to con someone than to convince them they've been conned."

Someone will have the sense to schedule the construction after the race...I hope.

Scott, when does logic enter the minds of these people ?
An aircraft landing is just a controlled crash.

If it's anything like the job they did near me there will be holes left in the road all over the place! The pavements will be perfect though

Hope it's better than Ferrari's pit stop light system!
