Electric Car goes 1000km on single charge
« on: May 25, 2010, 09:08:27 AM »

Let’s face it; we will all be driving some eco friendly electric hybrid thingy in a few years time because that’s what the manufacturers will force us to drive due to the carbon emission laws from our Governments.

A new world record was set for an electric vehicle by the Japan Electric Vehicle club, they managed to take their Mira EV 1003.184 kilometres without a single recharge.

This new over a thousand kilometre record was made at a driving course in Shimotsuma, Japan, which is the world’s longest. It took about 27.5 hours with an average speed of 40km per hour.

It was powered by a Sanyo lithium-ion battery, and it is the power equivalent of about 8,320 cylindrical lithium-ion batteries.

Thanks to BP, not only will we be paying way more for gasoline but maybe we'll be driving electric sooner than later. Talk about your silver lining! LOL
On a more serious note, 1000km on a single charge and I can't get more than 2-3 hours on a laptop when playing an HD movie! Where is my nuclear battery by now?????
Kimi's back! Future double WDC.

I think this is the new style battery in the record breaking car, might be a bit heavy on your lap though CD.
