Tilke to design Austin track.
« on: May 27, 2010, 12:56:26 PM »
Wow, surprise surprise...I wonder if he's taking his fee up front in case things don't happen?  Why would they already choose him when they don't even have the topography??  They haven't even yet figured out 'disclosed' the location!

To paraphrase Prefect of Police Louis Renault from the film Casablanca, "I'm shocked, shocked, to find Tilke involved here!"

Surely, there must be a tendering process to design tracks.

Tilke must have something on Eccleston to keep getting these jobs.

Yay, another Tilke-dome! Great news for F1!

There must be another company, especially in the US that could design a unique and exciting track that will also be safe up to F1 standards.

Tavo has come out defending his funding and decision to use Tilke.  I don't really like it when he says the funding is in place, but gives no clue as to where it is coming from.  Why not just say who, or what company is the major backer to give the fans some relief and confidence that it might actually happen?

It's a bit scary that he signed Tilke 'a long time ago'.  How could they have kept the rumours quiet?  Why not just let Tilke do the wiring and let someone else design the track?  It is Texas, so I'd like to see some Texas sized corners - massive long fast corners!!  Tilke will probably design the track to look like a big T-Bone steak or the shape of Texas.   :fool: :fool: :fool:

I wonder if Tilke will offer a track design in the shape of his initials and just be done with it! The 'HT' track would have plenty of hairpins and straights for a change!
