Red Bull Extends Webber's Contract
« on: June 07, 2010, 12:35:54 PM »
Now we know where Mark will be next season. RBR has extended his contract through 2011.

I'm surprised Mark said he is also only interested in a one year extension...I would have thought he'd be looking for a bit longer.

Sitting first in the standings, you don't want to lock in at too low a price.  What's the point in winning the WDC if you can't cash in?

Also, if you're driving for a team that has other drivers on the horizon, you don't want to lock yourself into a long term contract that puts you on the bench (Kimi).

There are still plenty of seats available for next year, why sign so early?

Who's going to be better than Red Bull next year?

Now that's the real big question.  :DntKnw: :DntKnw:

well I hope McLAREN will be, that is after winning both the Driver's and Constructor's Championships this year.

I think they have caught up to REDBULL and the Canadian GP may reveal whether they have

mind you this may be 'emotional' thinking prompted by all the REDBULLSHIT I have been exposed to and am now heartily sick of

...a pox on them  :o

Oh I'd say there are at least 4 other teams that the pendulum could easily sway towards next year, even before the end of the season...heck, even by Monza - no question whatsoever.

Red Bull isn't THAT dominant - yet.

The question isn't dominance, the question is dominance AND open seats.

McLaren is full
Mercedes is full
Ferrari... well... they seem to be inventing new rules so who knows?
Force India might improve... might not.  It would be a gamble, and they probably aren't paying extra for a non-champion.
Williams might be on the upswing, but they're less likely to pay for premium drivers
Renault still has a cloud over them for any long term prospects

I wouldn't really consider any of the other teams to be a lock to be competitive with RBR next year, which really puts Mark's choices as RBR or Ferrari.  If he's bitter at being #2 at RBR, it doesn't seem like he'd sign up for more of the same with Ferrari.
