Cameron has always relied more on CGI than his actors or stories.  I hated Titanic and most of the Terminator series (except that guy made out of liquid metal), but I kind of liked Avatar...well most of it.  I'm glad his ex-wife won the oscar though.  He can win all the money, but she gets the glory.

I agree about the CGI, Wizzo. I'm very glad it wasn't around when they made Grand Prix and LeMans. Those films wouldn't be the classics that they are without the real racing footage.

And as for Titanic, by 20 minutes into the film I was rooting for the iceberg!

I think seeing Avatar in 3D definitely made it more enjoyable as a very big part of it was the shear spectacle of it. I saw it playing on a TV in Tesco when it came out on DVD and it looked so bad in comparison. If I saw it in 2D I would probably think the same as Neil and Wiz.
