3rd F1 Bloggers and Friends Karting Competition
« on: June 30, 2010, 12:04:00 AM »
It's that time of year again - I'm organising the 3rd running of the F1 Bloggers and Friends Karting Competition  :D

Like the last two events, it will be at Teamworks Karting in central Birmingham. There were 22 people last year, but the more the merrier.

If you'd like to come, the karting will cost £70. If there are enough people interested in coming, I will be able to use that knowledge to convince Joe to do "An Evening With Joe" afterwards - either in the conference room by the track or in a local pub. However, I cannot provide details of it at this precise moment.

Further details are below:

Date

Saturday 15 January 2011 (the Saturday of Autosport)

Time

Between 4:30 pm and 5 pm.

Location

Teamworks Karting, Birmingham. Their website has further location information.

Kit Needed

Warm clothes and enthusiasm.

Note on Anonymity

If using a psuedonym, please type the psuedonym you want into the computer.

Price

£70 for the karting*.

Spectating is free.

How To Join In

To attend (either as a karter or spectator) please e-mail me at alianora . lacanta @ yahoo . co . uk (omitting spaces). This will enable me to e-mail you with further information nearer the time. It will also allow me to invoice you if you are karting.

By When?

The deadline is 30 November. No extensions will be entertained.

Minimum Numbers

I will need 12 people to book and pay to kart in order to be able to run the event. On previous experience this should be feasible, but if it isn't then I will need to either open the event to other people or cancel.

Any Questions?

Please post a comment here or e-mail me at the above e-mail.

* - The price rise compared to last year is due to increased costs.

sounds great ALC and best wishes for a brilliant event - sorry I can't be there as the airfare from Brisbane is a little too steep for me.

Like Lonny, I'm on the wrong side of the pond to attend.  :'(

I'll have to wait until my wife forgets about my Monza bill before I try to use the credit card again, but I expect I'll be able to book it before the end of November...  >:D

Wizzo, are you going to see about getting any of us in for the Friday (Trade Day?) of Autosport?

Sorry, I should have explained better. Joe is a journalist called Joe Saward. He's started doing evening talks to groups of fans about what he's seen in the paddock. From what I've heard they're good evenings.

If I can get enough people to come to the karting, I hope to be able to convince Joe to come and do an evening after the karting has finished.

I too hope to make it this year Ali.  :good:

Checked the flights but they are all bad times to do a one day visit. Can anyone recommend a cheap hotel in and around Birmingham Int Airport? The Hilton is a blinkin' fortune!!

Better downtown David - a few of us stayed there last year...I think it's called Ibis by the Bullring mall.  Why not stretch it to two nights and hit Autosport show as well?  That's how I justify it flying in from here.   :D

I can get you in on the Friday Trade Day Scott. Would anybody else be interested in going on Trade Day?
