Donnington Park ready for racing
« on: August 10, 2010, 01:21:14 PM »
Donnington Park has once again been given authorisation to host races.
After the failed F1 re-build the track was left in a bad way with some major work needed for it to be able to hold competitive motor sport there again after passing an FIA and Motor Sports Association track inspection this has now been achieved. :good:

I'm pleased this has happened poor old Tom would have been turning in his grave at the circuits demise.

I know a round of the British Touring Car Championship is due there in September.

The web site does not seem to be up and running yet other than information on the  museum (which I must emphasis again is a must see for F1 fans) and conference centre.

Wonder what the layout looks like now? Good luck to them, there can't be too many good race tracks. :good: :good:

Great news  :good:

Having been to many cracking gearbox Karting events there over the years the UK was missing out on a great track whilst it wasnt raceworthy!

Hope the new layout (if it exists, dod they ever get round to starting it??) does tha rest of the track justice

Crying shame about the dunlop bridge though  :'(

Just did a bit of research.

Its 99% the old layout, so who knows what the DVLL actually did other than dig up some of the existing track and leave it wrecked!!

They are even putting the bridge back eventually, although it has to be in a different place because of new motorsport regs  8)
