As I said, with Hill there are all sorts of conflicting stories as to why Hill left/was shown the door by Williams.  Even looking online you can find stories that Hill turned down drives from bigger teams (I saw McLaren and Ferrari mentioned) but they did not pay what he considered adequate for his Championship win.  Anyway, I totally agree that Williams did not hold their drivers in the biggest regard in the past and valued the constrictor's title higher than the driver's one, although I think Courage, Jones and Senna were exceptions to that rule, but of course Courage was racing for Frank before the team we now see as Williams raced.  I think the reaction towards Barrichello shows a new respect for the input a driver can have to the team which is a good thing.

I will give that a cautious maybe. No doubt the team has improved this year's car a good deal so far. I would say Rubens has had a lot to do with that, but I din't know if Frank would agree.

I agree with Lonny regarding Frank Williams' opinions of drivers.
Because he was a frustrated race driver himself, I think that there was almost a jealousy if one of his drivers became really successful.
However, even though I was a huge Damon Hill fan, I think he had just lost 'it'. That something special that makes a good driver push the limits. He should have quit when he couldn't get exactly the seat he wanted (whatever team that was).
