Official: Hiedfeld to Sauber
« on: September 15, 2010, 01:14:45 PM »
It's official: Quick Nick Hiedfeld will replace Pedro de la Rosa at Sauber for the rest of the season.

"It was a hard decision for me to make as a team principal and I want to thank Pedro for his professionalism," explained Peter Sauber. "By signing Nick we have a driver we know extremely well who will help us to further judge the comparative potential of our car."

I'm glad for Nick, he's a good driver.

I'm glad for Nick but I'm sad for Pedro. You would think if you had a contract for a season you could drive in all the races. Sauber must have a very low opinion of how much DLR is contributing to the team. This should give Sauber a bit of an advantage with the Pirelli tires next year.

The trouble now Lonny is that contracts are'nt worth a carrot.

The driver line up has been very stable this year... we only have three contracted drivers not driving, and that includes Kimi.

How many did Ferrari alone have under contract to race last year?

The superintendant of Tucson Public Schools was hired on a three year contract, but announced in her second year that she was leaving to take a similar job in Bloomington Colorado, saying that among other things, budget cuts by the state legislature would lower the quality of the schools too much for her children to get a proper education in Tucson. The school district simply let her go saying it could not afford to take her to court.  :fool:  Made me pretty mad.

Sounds like Tucson is well rid of such a bad administrator, especially since she has obviously never grasped the concept that motivation is so much greater than any budget in education.

Not if it had achievement clauses in it which gave Sauber the right to replace him.  He's been dominated by Kobi for the season with few exceptions.  I'm sure Sauber had an out.  Knowing their relationship with Heidfeld to begin with, it stands to reason that he may have always been their backup plan.

Coaches and players in the stick-and-ball sports are chopped mid-season all the time, using performance clauses. Sad to see Pedro go. I was a fan of his during his tenure at Jaguar. (OK, mainly because he wasn't The Swerve  ;) )

That said, it's good to have Hiedfeld back. He's definitely the better driver.

I see that Roman Grosjean is replacing Nick at Pirelli.

I didn't think they should try to keep her, I just thought they should maybe make her sit at home for a year, make her a little less desirable to another district.
