It could become the world's greatest car museum
« on: January 19, 2007, 10:50:05 AM »

A bunch of resourceful Brunei bloggers have gotten together to promote Brunei as a tourism destination, and good luck to them.

Brunei is at the immediate disadvantage of being one of the most expensive countries in the region. Sure, Brunei has its fair share of cultural, natural and heritage attractions.  But none of them would attract anywhere near the same interest as the Sultan of Brunei's enormous and famed car collection.

The former world's richest man has a car fetish and some person actually posted what they claimed to be a list of the Sultan's complete car collection on a car enthusiasts' forum.  Now I don't know how accurate or how up to date that list is, but it totals 2,789 cars and includes 362 Bentleys, 199 Ferraris, 160 Porsches, 130 Rolls Royces and 9 McLaren F1 race cars!  If the Sultan's actual collection were even half of that list, it would probably still be the most amazing array of top-end automobiles in the world.

Only problem is, the collection is not open to public viewing.  But imagine if the Sultan decided to create a car museum and put his collection on show - I have no doubt car enthusiasts would flock from all over the world to see it.  You could charge a small admission fee and that would help pay for the cost of the museum's upkeep.  Brunei would become one of the great tourist destinations of Asia.

So how about it, Dad???  ::)

Bit of a way to go Wizard.
I can think of a few places nearer home to view such cars, and it wont cost you a Kings ransom to see them.
