I don't think any rugby or Aussie football players are as
huge as the Yanks and the shoulders pads do more harm than
protect the players

My favourite quote about American Football came from Buffy the vampire slayer (a very guilty pleasure from my younger days!) It went:

Giles: 'I just think it's rather odd that a nation that prides itself on its virility should feel compelled to strap on forty pounds of protective gear just in order to play rugby.'

As for me, I enjoy proper football as a concept but it is dull to watch (that is, my team are dull lately, hopefully things will improve on that front soon).  Tennis is my game away from motorsportd.

It's even stranger than that, Jeri. Officially, the clock keeps running during the red flag. Then, an amount of time equal to the red flag period is added to the 2 hour race window. According to Formula1.com, the official time for the race was 2:48:20.810

You wouldn't expect the FIA to do anything simply or sensibly, would you?

Actually, if you followed soccer, you'd recognise the concept of 'injury time'.  Rather than call time outs in soccer, the referee just adds time players spend rolling on the ground pretending to be dying on to the end of the game.  (For a very long time this amount of time was 'secret', only in the past decade was the referee required to announce how much injury time there was.)

I'm not saying it makes sense, but at least that's the direction they're coming from.
Jeri,

In F1 there is no such thing a 'insury time'. The only session when the clock is stopped during a red-flag-situation, is in qualy. So a race should never be able to take more then 2 hours + one lap -/- 1 second. In South Korea, that means the race should have been stopped shortly after Mark went off.
Take a look at Malaysia last year, same: allmost one hour race, then wait for about 65 minutes to know the race won't go on. Same situation, but reverse... ;-)

Aah Rom and Wats-on, rugby and Aussie rules football are different, they don't roll around on the pitch crying because they've broken a fingernail or smudged their make-up.  :tease:

When it comes to non-motor sports, there's one that tops them all, and it's not any form of football.

I'll take a good Jell-o wrestling match anytime!  :yahoo:

Yeah but in Rugger it's worse, they just fake injuries with blood capsules, so they can con the ref and bring a specialist player on.  :P
