Nando raises smiles with waxed legs in Abu Dhabi
« on: November 12, 2010, 09:16:50 AM »

Nice of the old smoothie to lighten the mood of everyone this weekend.  :D

Title rivals poke fun at Alonso's waxed legs

In a bit of good humour or championship finale-needle, or both, Fernando Alonso's title rivals could not hide their grins in Abu Dhabi.

Lewis Hamilton admitted that he and Mark Webber noticed on Thursday that the Ferrari driver was sporting smooth and shiny legs in the Yas Marina paddock.

"I'm surprised how Fernando was able to take the pain of having his legs waxed," smiled Hamilton, who at McLaren in 2007 clashed memorably with his former teammate.

"Mark pointed it out and was asking how far it goes up," he added.

"I was like, 'Wow, they're shiny'," said Hamilton.

He admitted that Alonso, who is a keen cyclist, took the jibes in good humour.

He needs his eyebrows waxed, not his legs.   :D

I know a lot of North American athletes are superstitious...

Unless Alonso is always waxing his legs (and presumably this wouldn't come up if he did?) that's a big change to make right before a race.

He just came from Brazil. Maybe he got a "Brazilian."

This might be why his legs are bald.

He doesn't look happy at the start of this.  :DD

Wow - looks fun (I thought it was going to be an indoor rollercoaster).

Nando sure looked like he wanted out of there for the first bit, eh?  I think it was only after he remembered they had a camera on him that he cracked a smile.  He was also the first one trying to figure out how to get out of it at the end.  I don't think he'll be riding it all weekend.  Massa on the other hand had a blast.
