Flappy Rear Wing Fails
I was not impressed with the FRW after all the hype that passing was going to be a breeze if you were within 1 second but it was not.
I expect changes by Malaysia. :good:

Yes it failed making passing a breeze, but i think it was still successful

I think it kept the racing close. even if you couldn't get the pass done with the drs you could  still close in and get a better shot at the pass at a later point.

It may not have lived up to the hype, but I still see it as successful

I wouldnt give up on it yet.

Despite being third on the list of % full throttle per lap at 67%, the straights at Albert Park are actually relatively short.

When we hit tracks with longer straights, and Sepang is one, there will be a lot more time at top speed where the drag reduction will be most significant.

I agree, on tracks with more straight it will make a bigger difference, I wouldn't tinker with it until they get back to Europe.

I have not given up on it but feel it has to change, Button with KERS and the FRW had Massa pulling away from him. There were very few passes because of it and passes that may have happened anyway.
What happened to slip streaming?
All the aerodynamics especially at the back of the car have put paid to it due to the dirty air that it leaves behind so why not clean that up?

:good: I agree wholeheartedly Cam.  Both Malaysia and China have very long straights so they will be a better test of the Flappy Wings. Anything that might stop the usual boring procession in Hungary has to be given a go surely.

I personally am looking forward to Monza, in days gone by slipstreaming was the main feature, lets hope the Flappy thingy can deliver there.  :yahoo:

It will improve and thankfully the FIA and teams do not have any ideas set in stone yet regarding the usage of the wings so maybe alterations can be made to improve their impact on races with shorter straights.

As always, the regulations could be blamed. At least for a part. Why only at the main straight allow the wing to flip up? Why not also at another straight? Only one point? OMG That's not gonna help you.

I agree.  For all the fancy rules about surfaces, and perspectives and mm beyond the plane... they could clear it up by saying that the cars must leave a minimal 'wake' in the air behind them.

I would prefer the FRW be available on all straight aways, not just one zone.
