Race predictions - add your own!
« on: March 25, 2011, 03:43:41 PM »
I expect total carnage on the track Sunday. I base this on a number of factors.

- Perelli tyres. There is going to be a massive amount of those dreaded "marbles" covering the track in a relatively short time.

- Slow back markers

- Huge understeer problems. The number of cars going off track Friday was unbelievable. The in-cockpit views clearly showed that pretty much all teams are struggling with front downforce.

Kimi's back! Future double WDC.

I hope it'll be better than you say Darrell, oh Mr. Negative  :P

There were quite a few going off like you say, but I hope it was more the damp track and winter cobwebs than anything more serious.  The tires will be a real challenge, and for that I would think that Ross Brawn will figure out optimal pit stops before anyone else does.

RBR had better pay attention to the tires, as Vettel doesn't seem to be able to tell when he's got a big hole in his.

I'm predicting the first application of the new 107%

I'm also going to suggest there will be plenty of passing as the teams try to coordinate tire strategies and all the fancy 'passing buttons' available to drivers.

I'll even go so far as to suggest that Ross Brawn will grasp this quickest, and we'll look for strong finishes for Mercedes.

The closest, most unpredictable race of the week-end won't be between Red Bull and McLaren. It will be between HRT and its creditors.

I'm thinking that One of the Saubers along with Rubens' Williams will keep the Renaults out of top ten Q3 shoot out. Oh and Jens. Michael, Mark and Nando will best their teamates and one of them will win the race.

Rosberg sounds quite confident, reckoning he can get more out of the tires than most.  Pirelli seems to have a bit of trouble with the fronts and that works against Michael. But the real dark horse just might be Button. He had excellent strategies several times last year, and he is kind to the tires.
