Hamilton: Red Bull wings still flexing
« on: March 29, 2011, 05:18:38 PM »

"close the loophole or everyone will copy it", easier said than done Lewis.  :D
They increased the weight tests massively last year with no discernable effect and no other team managed to explain what RBR is doing let alone copy it.

Do we really need to have another season long witchhunt?  :stop: :nono:   - If you think you can replicate it get on and do it, that's the traditional F1 way, if not stop moaning!  :P

As Red Bull dominated the pace with its ultimately title-winning RB6 in 2010, rivals pushed for better scrutineering checks after noticing the extremities of the front wing bending towards the track. 2011 could be set to stage a repeat of last year’s flexible front wing saga.

That phenomena was spotted again in Melbourne last weekend, as were Red Bull’s mechanics repairing the endplates after they bottomed on the asphalt and kerbs.

"Have you seen Vettel’s front wing?" Bild newspaper in Germany quotes Lewis Hamilton - who estimated the performance advantage at half a second - as saying.

"Either we close the loophole or everyone will copy it," the McLaren driver reportedly added.

Red Bull’s motor sport consultant Helmut Marko replied: "It was the same thing last year. They try it over and over, but we pass the tests every time."

Welcome to F1 loopholes Mr. Hamilton.  Learn them, live them, love them.

And to Mr. Newey, keep it up.  If you keep everyone guessing, they're not concentrating on winning.

What Lewis is actually saying is Red Bull is half a second a lap faster and we can't figure out why, so it must be the flexy wing since we don't have one.

Welcome to F1 loopholes Mr. Hamilton.  Learn them, live them, love them.
And use them. ;)

Any way, funny that it is true. It looks like the wing of Ferrari and McLaren are more flexy then last year, though. Perhaps Lewis just wants to drive a Newey-car?  :tease:
