Bernie still King of F1 UK rich list
« on: May 16, 2011, 09:49:40 PM »

So Bernie is worth nearly twice as much as last year at £2.5 Billion?   :swoon:
I thought for legal reasons most of the fortune he has amassed was put into family trusts because of his divorce, I believe his wife's name was on most of the assets whilst they were married. If it's now all controlled by him again I'm sure the tax man will be having words. :D

The other thing that suprises me is the very small difference (just £8 million) between the estimated wealth of David Richards, with countless years as a top mover & shaker in the motorsport world, and Lewis Hamilton. Surely one of those estimates has to be wrong???    :DntKnw:

Bernie Ecclestone has retained his place as Formula 1's wealthiest person in the annual Sunday Times Rich List, as figures from motor racing showed well in the top sportsmen category.

Ecclestone was estimated to have a worth of £2,500 million - an increase of £1,125 million on last year – which puts him 23rd overall in the list of the top 1,000 British earners.

The wealthiest British person with ties to motor racing is former grand prix driver Johnny Dumfries, who was fourth highest on the list of sports people with a fortune of £110 million.

Eddie Irvine was sixth with £80 million, ahead of Jody Scheckter on £60 million, David Richards on £58 million and David Coulthard and Lewis Hamilton tied on £50 million.

I thought I read a few years ago that he was worth $6b.  So either that was way off, or most of it is in his wife's corporations (or purse), or probably more likely, much of it is hidden away here in Switzerland.
