Williams F1 says Rubens is staying next year...

Parr said that Rubens will re-sign for Williams next year, but when Rubens was asked, he had quite a different answer.  I don't know what Rubens is going on about.  Williams is about the only seat in F1 he'll get paid for.

It sounds like they haven't asked him directly to stay. He seems to be saying that Parr has just talked to the press, not the drivers. Not really good form on Parr's part.

We know how the F1 journalism tends to work.

The quote is saying that Parr would like Rubens to stay.  If next season's budget isn't set, it's simply not possible to enter into a fair negotiation, no matter who he wants as a driver.

Knowing Sir Frank's frugality when it comes to paying drivers and Rubens' unwillingness to get out years ago when he should have this is a perfect situation for Williams. Rubens will actually pay THEM next year!
