Head to step back from Formula 1.
« on: July 13, 2011, 10:02:35 PM »

May not quite be retirement, but sounds like a back seat role from now on.

Patrick Head will be modifying his function within Williams F1 at the end of the year, the 66-year-old has explained to BBC Sport. Currently the team’s Director of Engineering, he insists that he will not be moving into retirement.

Rumours of a departure began to circulate in early May after team Chairman Adam Parr explained to reporters that Head would be retiring at the end of the year. This was quickly contested by Head, who denied the claims and added that he would make a statement at a later date.

“All I know is I'm not retiring,” says Head. “I probably won't be involved with Williams Formula 1 in the same way from the end of the year but I'll still be involved in some Williams activities.”

Head should step into Parr's chair...but he might scare off some of the sponsors.
