Williams Gets KERS Back for Hungary
« on: July 27, 2011, 01:20:12 PM »
Williams driver Rubens Barrichello will get his KERS system back for Hungary this week-end. The team had removed the system because of tire wear and brake balance concerns.

Team technical director Sam Michael said, "We always felt in the past that the few times in races where we have turned it off, it has actually been better on rear tire degradation." I wonder if that's why we've heard other teams telling their drivers not to use KERS during races.

It makes sense that KERS causes wear on the tires.  Why wouldn't extra power/acceleration cause wear on the tires?

To me, it seems absurd that teams can't really account for it.  (Although given the lack of in season testing, I guess I can give them a break)

Yay! Now Rubens can go a little extra faster before he DNFs!  :tease:
Kimi's back! Future double WDC.
