Harry Morgan Dies
« on: December 08, 2011, 02:26:38 PM »
Actor Harry Morgan has died at the age of 96. He is best known for his role as Col. Sherman Potter in the TV series M*A*S*H. He was also Office Bill Gannon, the partner of the iconic Sgt. Joe Friday in the 1960's series Dragnet. Morgan was a regular in at least 9 TV series, which I think is a record.

He was also in over 100 movies. Some of my favorites are Inherit the Wind, The Glen Miller Story, Strategic Air Command and Support Your Local Sherriff.

IMO M*A*S*H was the greatest TV series ever. R.I.P., Harry.

96 ain't a bad old age, plus he had a full life and was in some gtrea series, M.A.S.H being one of the best.

One time in an interview, Morgan was asked if being in M*A*S*H made him a better actor. He replied, "It made me a better human being. There aren't many roles you can say that about."

My all time favorite series. Harry Morgan was a brilliant bit of casting. He had a one off as a senile general early in the series run. M.A.S.H. is one of a very few series that improved when they recast.

I remember Harry as a kid in the series December Bride.
