Simulator Updates
« on: January 05, 2012, 03:28:20 AM »
I'm looking to spend a few hundred on some upgrades to my simulator, I have a few ideas but am looking for anything that could spice it up even more, I'm mainly using my ps3 with games like Formula 1 2011 or GT5

Currently I have a Logitech G27 placed infront of my TV on a self built cockpit, but I want a better more thrilling experience. I have 3 simple ideas.

One-buy decent surround sound to just around the cockpit. IE a speaker behind each ear with two in front of the wheel and a sub behind the pedals or something like that.

Two-Spend lots of money on the Thrustmaster T500 Ferrari wheel. If you havent seen it its pretty awesome :o http://www.thrustmaster.com/products/ferrari-f1-wheel-integral-t500

and Three-I was thinking more of a closed cockpit idea here, With something like black sheets stretching from the tv to the back of my seat. With this Idea I would want to but a new smaller tv to put a foot or two in front my wheel for a more close up affect. then the sheets would act more like a light tunnel. (maybe add idea one into it all  :D)

Any other little (preferably cheap ideas of how I could improve my fairly basic simulator?

How about wearing a skidlid PG, if you are trying to get an authentic feel with your sim?
