McLaren's Geoff McGrath sings Vettel's praises
« on: January 31, 2012, 12:29:20 PM »

How does Seb beat them in quali? "We think it's driver skill" McGrath says.   :swoon:
In an Autosport.com story, extracts below, about the upcoming launch of the new MP4-27, Geoff pays tribute to Vettel's ability to out perform the faster McLaren car during quali.
I wonder how this makes Lewis and Jenson feel with the new season almost upon us?  :D
Now is Seb really head and shoulders above the rest?  :DntKnw: I guess it could explain his dominance over his teamate, Mark as well.

It is understood that McLaren is focusing on single-lap speed with the MP4-27, which it hopes will allow it to take more pole positions and control races from the front.

McGrath added that beating qualifying master Sebastian Vettel will be crucial if McLaren is to be successful in 2012, particularly as its analysis indicated that the raw pace of last year's MP4-26 was superior towards the end of the season despite Red Bull and Vettel's run of poles.

"He must be a brilliant driver, because by the end of last season we definitely had the best car and he was still whupping us," McGrath said.

"We're trying to figure out exactly what he's doing that's so good. How does he pull out that fast qualifying lap every time? We think it's driver skill. There's no trickery on the cars, he just gets more out of it than we do."

hehe, like you say, wonder how it makes the Mclaren drivers feel...of course they can put it down to the team not blaming the car?   ;)

I think that anyone here who deals with users can appreciate where Geoff is coming from.  When you provide a good or service, and it's not as expected, it's ALWAYS the user's fault...

Funny how the hotel business is the complete opposite (though I wish it wasn't).
