Schu wants Ferrari role to remain vague

Retired grand prix driver Michael Schumacher says his new role at Ferrari is likely to remain vague for the time being.

The 38-year-old is taking a reported $6m out of the Maranello based team's coffers in 2007 to be some sort of advisor or assistant aiding team boss Jean Todt and the driver lineup.

On a visit this week to Dubai, Schumacher admitted: "It's not a very clear definition made to my role in Ferrari so far, simply for the fact that I don't want it to be.

"They're happy enough to leave it up to me where I want to be involved and where not, so with time that will develop."

Schumacher was present for the launch and first test of Ferrari's new 'F2007' car, and he may also keep an eye out for rising driver talent.

The great German also made a point of publicly backing his successor, Kimi Raikkonen, who has taken some criticism for falling short of some observers' expectations for the role as Ferrari number one.

"I think there are only a few drivers on the market that are absolute top level," Schumacher said, "and with Kimi we believe we have made a very good choice to have him in our team."
