We Rock Here in the Hills!
« on: March 22, 2012, 01:32:48 PM »
This is in Athens, Ohio. It's about 45 miles from my home. I did my undergrad work there at Ohio University.

That has to be the most unnecessary Road Closed sign ever! I think most drivers will notice the 25 foot boulder in the road long before they see the sign.

I was doing a cross country (Canada) adventure a couple of decades back and we were travelling on a road that was supposedly just opened north of Whistler BC called Duffy Road (it would have taken about 3hrs off our drive to where we were going in central BC).  My buddy and I came over a rise and about 50ft ahead was a flagman holding a 'Stop' sign.  What was really funny was directly behind him was about 30ft of rubble where they had just blasted some rock away on the side of the road.  It was completely impassable and we had to wait about 3hrs for them to bulldoze it out of the way.  We laughed and laughed at that one.  The guy actually stood there for the entire time (I'm sure he had a union break somewhere in there - we went off for a hike), even though by the time they were finished there was about a 2km lineup of cars behind us.
