IRL Will Control Engine Builder Swaps
« on: May 03, 2012, 09:27:20 PM »
IndyCar has ruled that teams will now have to get permission from the series before they can swap engine makes in mid-season. This follows two of the five Lotus powered teams defecting to other builders. I can see their point. The manufacturers need stability, and time to upgrade under performing designs.

I can see their point.

All the same, they need to stop penalising teams for engine swaps.  The suppliers need more time to get their act together, and penalising a team for choosing the wrong supplier, and then not letting them switch is a little harsh.

I think in most cases the suppliers chose the teams. Otherwise how did Chevy score the 2 best teams?
