  • Wizzo: GPW will be down from approximately 13:30 tomorrow until the migration to the new server is complete. Once the site is "live" on the new server it could take another 24-48 hours to become accessible to all users.

Has anyone had any experiences with MGBs? I may have an opportunity to get one for very cheep if not free. It will need a lot of work though. Any advice?

Not so much with a B, but I've got an MG Midget Mk III. Both are very easy to work on and most parts are readily available at reasonable prices. One question: Is the body in good shape? The car is a unibody, so structural work is best left to the pros.

Yeah its in decent shape. Only a paint job is really needed, its also missing the cloth for the top but I would probably just use it as a fair weather car and forget about the roof

Check all the nooks and crannies for rust. Avoid Lucas electric bits.  :DD

Congrats PG Gabriel for having one. MGs are evergreen, so hopefully you will have a great time with it.

Can you please give us a pic, so that we could appreciate your beauty a bit more..

Did you hear about the Lucas vacuum cleaner? It's the only thing they make that doesn't suck!

I just took a quick look at the spares section of the MG Owners' Club site. They have tops starting at £188.95. I picked up a Robbins top for my Midget from Victoria British a few years ago. It was on sale. I think I paid around $225 for it.

I helped many years ago with the breakdown at the beginning of the restoration of a Midget. My only advice? Get some WD40 and knuckle guards!!  ;)
