Safety in F1 has advanced incredibly far since I began following it (we won't discuss how long ago that was!). Here a a few drivers who are direct beneficiaries of that progress:

I'm old enough to remember those days, too. In the 1960's, deaths in F1 were no only commonplace, they were almost expected. The work done by Sir Jackie Stewart and Prof. Sid Watkins has really made F1 what it is today.
