Lauda Chairman of Board at Mercedes F1
« on: November 05, 2012, 12:46:26 PM »
Former WDC Niki Lauda is now part of the Mercedes F1 team. “Niki is non-executive chairman, chairman of our board,” said team principal Ross Brawn. Considering what he did at Jaguar, I don't see this as a positive move.

Just what I was thinking Cos.  He might have what it takes to run an F1 team, but he doesn't have what it takes to keep a meddling corporation from ruining an F1 team.

I can't see Lauda and Brawn often seeing eye to eye on things.  Wonder how long Brawn would stay with Lauda's own brand of meddling.  What's going on with Haug?  Is he being ushered out the door or being groomed for other things?  I know Haug's job isn't just F1, but it all just seems odd.  There is also Lauda's close connection to RBR..  Isn't that quite a conflict?  Hiring Lauda for anything not strictly ceremonial just tells me Merc is owned by idiots and is surely on its way out of F1.  Good luck Lewis.

Why on Earth would Mercedes hire a headache with whom they would get nothing good. Why can't you see people like JYS? Oh sorry, its a Austrian-German love affair, how can it go wrong. Only place I could see Lauda working is in Gossip Magazine of F1, because other than controversy he is not capable of anything today..

Does this mean MS wasn't offered a Mercedes job or has
turned it down?I'm not too sure Michael was readyto
retire.Only months ago he had said he didn't see any
reason not too continue racing next year

Michael has said that this time he is done with racing. He will spend his time with his family.

Didn't he say the same thing first time as well? Seems like he had trouble keeping his hand off the steering..

If you ask me I would have Micheal in the position instead, for me he seems better suited..
