I thought the track has been permanently ruled out for F1 because of the lack of runoff at Tamburello.

Not that I was aware of.  They could easily modify it again for Formula 1, as they did post 1994, if its current configuration is not suitable for a Formula 1 car.

On the subject of a second Grand Prix in this country, Brands Hatch is out for the reasons mentioned above, and the fact the run off is insufficient at some corners, and cutting down trees to extend them was overruled.  Remember the whole Nicola Foulston saga?

As for Donnington, there is no chance of that happening.  There are continental European tracks which are much more race ready.

How about a reverse Silverstone? I cannot see why it is not happening, fans will be delighted, and if put forward I think a better deal can be cut for Bernie as well..

Anyone up for this??

Don't think Bernie would be up for that. There is a new promoter in Turkey who says he wants to talk to Bernie about going there, but I would put the RB Ring at the top of the list. Bernie and Mateschitz are both businessmen, it's in Bernie's interest to get another race on the calendar, and Mateschitz has the money to make it happen.

Though Bernie is denying all rumors surrounding the Austrian Grand Prix, and insisting getting the Turkey in the map, though he also mentioned that he will be happy with 19 race calender.

Austria looks a great business event on paper, wonder why is Bernie so reluctant about it? :DntKnw:

No one likes to have a reverse Silverstone race? :o

That depends on whether they run the track in reverse or run the cars in reverse.  ;)

We kow that Bernie's golden boy Vettel does well when backwards.  He just might suggest that...

Or it could be Bernie the Magician distracting the audience while he does the deal somewhere else. Talk a lot about Turkey ( where he is not getting any more money from the government ) and quietly do a deal in Austria. Then use the talks with Turkey to put pressure on New Jersey or Germany or whoever.

New Jersey is dead as a doornail. There's no way in the world Gov. Christie can throw money at Bernie while he's trying to pay for the cleanup from Sandy.

Well... you can't put it past politicians to stage big events to show that 'the community is stronger than ever'.

And running for president of the USA, Christie could use some international appeal.

It would be a tough sell, for sure, and it certainly SHOULD stay dead, but since when do things unfold as they SHOULD, either in F1 or NJ?

FIA’S NEW F1 RULES ON 2013

Technical Regulations of 2013 Formula 1

More stringent front wing deflection tests have been now introduced.

Minor changes have been also made to the front roll structure design.

There is a continuous increase in minimum weight to compensate for an increase in tyre weight for 2013.

All chassis will now have higher static load applied to them formerly only one chassis was tested to the higher loads with subsequent chassis being tested to 20% lower proof loads. For safety reasons, use of the DRS during practice will now only be allowed in the place(s) it will be used on the track in the race. A new draft with numerous changes was discussed and agreed by the Formula 1 Technical Working Group and Powertrain Working Group.

The requirement for cars to be driven exclusively under electric power in the pit lane has been postponed until 2017. A number of changes have been made to the power unit regulations with the aim of limiting technology in some areas in order to reduce development costs.
