“You can see around the world in terms of circuit racing there’s probably three or four championships in the whole world that are open now,” said Hembery. “That’s the way the world prefers it and I can understand why.”

I strongly disagree. One of Sports Car Racing's great appeal is the variety of tire makers. I just hope that it survives the NASCAR-ization of the sport over here. The fact that we're still talking about the "tire war" says something. How much discussion is there of the rest of Brigestone's time in the sport? Does anyone even give them a second thought?
“You can search the world over for the finer things, but you won't find a match for the American road and the creatures that live on it.”
― Bob Dylan
