I think you need to understand Jeri has a dry, sarcastic side to her. Lol
You may well be right .
I haven't been here long enough to work out when people are being sarcastic though, especially when there are no smilies to help.
I have many sides. That's why I'm so big
I do firmly believe that Bernie is three steps ahead of anyone, and just like the perfect F1 pass comes within a hair of disaster, the path of running FOM appears to be on the edge of disaster at all times. Yet Bernie does ensure that the sport as a whole comes out ahead, even if you can't see it until it happens.
However, I wasn't being sarcastic when it comes to getting sponsorship out of the sport. If we want the teams to make the money directly off of fans, then we as fans need to pay directly into F1, eliminating the need for sponsors. I suppose the sarcastic edge comes in acknowledging that will never happen, and sport will remain in thrall of sponsors, which means pay drivers. We can certainly debate dividing up the F1 pie however we want, but the fact is that CVC's portion of the pie mostly covers the debt they incurred buying the sport from EMTV. Bernie negotiated himself a hefty fee in the process (which is of course part of his problem with the German courts), but those are contracts that aren't changing. No matter what happens with Concorde, those monies are already alotted, and aren't available to the teams. It's probably easier to figure out your country's national budget than the inner workings of F1 financing. Bernie wouldn't have it any other way.
